Makeup Lust: MAC Eyeshadow in Cork
Hi babes! How are you? :) Good I would hope, I've got something dead exciting to talk to you about, well not really but it's exciting because its an awesome product and you should know about it so you TOO can experience the awesome-ness, how does that sound? Good? Keep reading!
It's a MAC product of course it's fantastic, Cork is (as described by MAC) a muted golden brown and that pretty much hits the hammer on the head. I'd say it was a neutral golden brown that isn't too warm nor too cool, meaning it suits a large variety of skin tones, brow colours and eye colours. I like that although Cork is a satin finish it's honestly close enough to a matte that you can use it for contouring and your eyebrows with looking weird.

The reason I bought Cork is that for my eyebrows I use three colours all from my Coastal Scents 88 Original Eyeshadow palette, and the lightest brown colour is pretty much empty because it works for everything, brows, crease shading, nose contouring, it's just fantastic and I think everyone needs a staple light/medium brown in their collection, so versatile! So I use it now for those purposes, eyebrows, nose/bottom lip contouring and as an all around eyeshadow and it's such a pleasure to use. Cork has effortless blendability, strong colour payoff and has that MAC smooth, slightly buttery yet dry enough texture. I think its such an essential colour that you really can't go wrong with.
There were also two main factors in my choosing of Cork over other matte browns in the MAC collection, none of the other colours really matched what I had in the Coastal Scents palette, they were generally too cool (e.g. Charcoal Brown, Wedge), too dark (Embark & Espresso) or had too much red brown in them (.e.g Swiss Chocolate), and some were even too warm! (Here's looking at you.. Saddle...) so it seemed that I was left to the Satins, but I'm glad I was :)
In Australia MAC Eyeshadows retail for $33 each.

I'm back! Makeup Lust: Accessorize Merged Eyeshadow Trio
Hello my little dolls, I am absolutely THRILLED to see that people have still been accessing, reading and following my blog, you guys are too sweet :) Well I'm back now to give you more lovely content to brighten up your beauty days, I hope you enjoy it! I apologise for my lack of commitment but I am hoping that this year I can improve it and really stick together with you guys.
Now, onwards! I've got some really stunning eyeshadows to tell you guys about and they're becoming real staples in my makeup collection. I got them as a christmas gift in a set, so I don't think they're sold anymore but they're the Accessorize Merged Eyeshadows in shades 7, 8 and 9; Golden Caramel, Molten Copper and Cosmic Rays.
They've got this cute little almost dish-like plastic packaging with the Accessorize logo and butterfly on the front in gold font, which while looks attractive can be a little difficult to see in photos!
Shade #7 Golden Caramel
Shade #8 Molten Copper
Shade #9 Cosmic Rays
There's a golden sticker on the back of all of the shadows and the back is actually flat so you can stand them back to back and they fit a lot better in your makeup set than a rounded off tin would, it's really easy to open the lid to the packaging no fussing around but it's not loose and cheap wherein you'd drop it and it would smash right open. Now let's talk shades!
The first and my favourite shade is Golden Caramel and that actually describes it really well. It has this stunning, rich, light caramel/champagne/pink/peach colour with strong opacity (and all these eyeshadows have even better opacity when you use a damp brush as they are baked eyeshadows), this has a medium amount of fall-out but if you apply and pick up gently then you'll be fine. I really like to use this as an all over facial highlight, brow bone highlight, all over base colour for eyeshadow and its really pretty lightly dusted as an inner corner highlight :)

Okay so truth be told I am an absolute SUCKER for any eyeshadows that are brown, gold, copper or bronze, or anything in that family really. I can't help it! I love warm tones, they're so flattering on all eye colours, hair colours, outfits, skin tones and are extremely versatile. Molten Copper is definitely a rich, orangey copper that has subtle glitters of gold and brown, do take care in the sense that this colour by far has the most fallout, so it can fall into eyelashes and if you're not aware into the eye, this is pretty rare though and most competent people won't do this, maybe it's just me haha =___= One of my favourite things about Molten Copper is that it looks as if they have baked gold leaf into the eyeshadow and it looks really pretty, strong mixture of warm tones does me just fine!

Cosmic Rays is a very unique eyeshadow with a cool name, I myself actually use khaki colours every now and then with gold on the lid and dark khaki/browns in the crease, but I am actually yet to use it. Cosmic Rays looks more like a planet than it does an eyeshadow, but like Molten Copper it has that stunning baked gold leaf appearance in pan. From swatches alone it appears to have the least fallout of the three, with a strong pearlescent khaki base and fine golden shimmer rather than almost glitters in the other two shades, I think this would look incredible on someone with brown eyes or with violet eyes (you can always try contacts though!) but khaki is far more of a workable shade than you might think, so don't not give Cosmic Rays a chance!
If you live in the UK
Accessorize is a much more
accessible (see what I did there?) brand to you than in other countries and from what I can tell on the website is stocked by
Monsoon, however from browsing the website alone this trio doesn't appear to be available, maybe it's just a holiday set? I am unaware of the prices unfortunately as again it was a gift, but if you do ever come across these eyeshadows they are beautiful! I have seen
Accessorize standalone stores in England but I'm not entirely sure of their stance now.

August Lust: Things I'm On The Hunt For!
Hi babes! Sorry I've been absent lately, I haven't had anything to write about, you guys got any ideas? Anyways, I've been around window shopping and spotted a few things here and there I've really fallen in love with or products I'm lusting after, these include products outside of the beauty realm too! Let's get started:
Fairy Lights: Typo
I was in Typo the other day with my boyfriend and I spotted some adorable fairy lights! I don't want these ones specifically, but I saw ones that were in a round tub with flowers and fairy lights, should have bought them then and there... I still plan to though, I just think fairy lights are such a cute, whimsical and feminine touch to any interior and I'd love to have them hanging on the wall in my bedroom. I believe they were roughly $10.99 and they're sold at all Typo stores.
As much as I love my chest of drawers with all of my stickers on it from when I was growing up, I have had a lot of my room redone (I repainted it and got a new bed at the start of the year) I really want some cohesion with my furniture. My bed is a modern white stained oak kind of wood, my desk and desk chair are pale pink from Ikea, my walls are pastel yellow and then my bedside table and chest of drawers are just out of place with everything else in my room. I like minimalist, modern and elegant furniture and I would feel a lot better if everything in my room just matched, then I could film more videos in there! I believe these both cost around $399 to $499, too much =_=
L'Oreal Paris Absolut Repair Cellular Lactic Acid Shampoo and Conditioner
My boyfriend's cousin (who is
gorgeous by the way, thanks Anthea!) posted a picture of this shampoo and conditioner on instagram and said that it's the best combination if you're trying to grow your hair. Obviously I want super long fabulous hair, but it's pretty difficult considering all of my hair's implications. So before I can afford hair extensions I definitely wanna try the
L'Oreal Absolut Cellular Repair Lactic Acid shampoo and conditioner, I've heard practically nothing but good things and I adore
L'Oreal for hair products, they make my
favourite hair mask!
M.A.C Carbon and M.A.C Black Tied
Carbon
Black Tied
I'm really keen on getting a great black eyeshadow that I can use for sultry smokey eyes in the future, the only black I own is the little section of my Coastal Scents 88 palette, and I'm yet to find a brand with such an amazing range that includes a great matte black and shimmer black that's easily accessible to me, and as strange as that may sound to some M.A.C is the choice for me. Carbon is an intense deep, dark matte black, whereas Black Tied is a velvet finish deep black with a silvery/white shimmer. I can't decide between which I'd like more, but I think that drugstore brands are much more likely to stock a shimmery black colour than a matte one, so if it comes to it I'll probably get Carbon from M.A.C and look into a shimmery black, do you guys know any good ones?
That's all I'm looking into right now, if I get any of these items I'll definitely be letting you guys know and in the place of beauty products I'll review them for you, hope you haven't missed me too much :)

Covergirl & Max Factor: Why Europe and the USA aren't missing out.
There are a few major corporations that are the owners of all our favourite brands, so it's not just a coincedence when two different brands will release a similar concept of product at the same time and this is an evident case in
Max Factor and
Covergirl, who are both owned by pharmaceutical giant
Procter and Gamble. Whilst I was in the UK I noticed an abundance of Max Factor at all of the major high street stores, but no Covergirl. Max Factor is only available to the USA online, I believe they
used to have it a few years ago but it didn't sell well. Obviously it would feel like a loss to both parties to not be able to easily purchase both brands, but there's no real loss at all, let me give you an example!
Covergirl Smoky ShadowBlast & Max Factor Smoky Eye Effect Shadow
Covergirl Smoky ShadowBlast
Though a novel concept,
Smoky ShadowBlast is far better in theory than practice, and are not only notorious for the stick ends breaking, but also for a formula with a weak colour payoff and pigmentation. All of the shades are very frosty and crease and fade far too quickly to be worth any amount of money.
Max Factor Smokey Eye Effect Shadow
I can't be exactly sure but I do believe these products have the same formula considering the reviews for
Smokey Eye Effect Shadow aren't exactly glowing either, in fact they're the opposite. The colours again have little to no pigmentation when applied onto the eye, are extremely troublesome to blend, are patchy, frosty and leave an uneven film of colour that makes blending step 2 to step 1 a nightmare. Though the colours in
Smokey Eye Effect Shadow are more sophisticated than the young audience that Covergirl targets, but the product is just as bad.
Covergirl Blast Flipstick & Max Factor Flipstick Colour Effect
Covergirl Blast Flipstick
Covergirl and Max Factor both chose to get creative with lip art this year by bringing out their flipstick concepts. Another winner, you essentially have three lip colours in one! One side of the flipstick is a creamy shade, the other side is a shimmer shade, and you mix the duos together to create a third shade, great innit? The Covergirl variant delivers long lasting pigmented colour that is vibrant and resists bleeding to a minimal amount. The only issue is the loose plastic lid that could come off in your makeup bag or purse, so shut it tight!
Max Factor Flipstick Colour Effect
Once again the same concept, and just as successful too! Flipstick Colour Effect is spoken of as being moisturising, easy to use, soft, blendable and highly pigmented, the same as their Covergirl counterpart. Though they have less shades (Max Factor have six whilst Covergirl boast 13) they once again have the more sophisticated combinations, but still allow for some fun and creative lip art!
So far these are the only two similarities I can find that are the exact same concept, but if there's any others you guys have picked up on comment below and tell me!

Shadow Lust: L'Oreal La Couleur Infallible Eyeshadow
I'm back! Did you all miss me? :) I've been so busy and stressed lately I just haven't had the time for blogging, but every things calming down so now I can get back to you guys. What I've wanted to talk to you all about is the much blogged about
L'Oreal La Couleur Infallible Eyeshadows in particular my favourite; Sahara Treasure.
I bought Sahara Treasure when I was in the UK (yes, I still have products from the UK to review) at Boots for £6.99, so much cheaper than it is in Australia! Plus I haven't seen Sahara Treasure in Australia before. Couleur Infallible (in irridescent finish) has the most velvety soft texture, almost like a cushion of eyeshadow (not like the dream bouncy blushes though, that's a totally different texture!). They're so opaque and I find for maximum pigmentation you should apply it with your fingers, rather than an eyeshadow brush, but if you use a brush it's far more build-able.

Sahara Treasure (must be based on the desert) has a beautiful metallic cool gold colour, I wouldn't say it was multiple colours but rather a solid metallic. It definitely reminds of what you would find in a treasure chest (the concept of course) and I've just been loving this lately. I love to layer it over M.A.C Paint Pot in Indianwood or on its own since it's definitely strong enough, with a dark or chestnut brown in the crease and under my lower lashline. I wouldn't even say that Couleur Infallible requires a primer, plus L'Oreal claims that they last for up to 24 hours. Although I'm not exactly game enough to test this considering you shouldn't wear makeup while you sleep!
How pretty is it? I'm in love!
L'Oreal Couleur Infallible eyeshadows retail for $14 and up at most L'Oreal stockists such as Priceline and other pharmacies.
Labels: cosmetics, couleur infallible, eyes, eyeshadow, gold, l'oreal, l'oreal infallible eyeshadow, l'oreal paris, makeup, metallic

Beauty Lust: Pearl!
I don't always pay attention to the main trends in the beauty industry, I mean I know them, but I have my little favourites regardless of what's in season, and right now my favourite is Pearl products, especially nails and shadows!
Credit:
From left to right: Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in "Sheer Pearl", Essie "Kisses and Bises, O.P.I "I Juggle... Men", M.A.C "Frayed to Order" (my favourite!)
and Chanel "Pearl Drop".
I love the look of nails like a mother of pearl, my favourite that I own has definitely been
O.P.I "Otherwise Engaged" and when I was cleaning out my nail polish collection yesterday I found this little nail polish from some random little brand called
Blush Amour and the colour is number 21, it's a white pearl with slight pink shimmers, I have a photo on my instagram (@bigfatsquishycheeks)! I think that pearl nails are understated and simple, but so so
so delicate and feminine! Plus it makes my nails look so shiny and healthy, and adds dimension.
I've also been really loving pearl eyeshadow, I love a strong metallic with smooth application and one sweep dimension and that's what a great pearl eyeshadow should be, that's my favourite part about a pearl is they're never one solid colour, there's always hints of pink and they're always shiny. A lot of brands sell eyeshadows or have at least one eyeshadow series that involves pearls, including:
Some of the best available pearl shades include:
M.A.C Woodwinked
M.A.C All That Glitters
NYX Loose Pearl Eyeshadow in Pearl
Maybelline Eye Studio Color Pearls Marbleized Eyeshadow in Sinful Sinnamon
Maybelline also have a line of Pearl lipsticks in their
Color Sensation Lipstick line, the (you guessed it!)
Color Sensational Pearl Lipsticks. I'm not
quite ready yet for pearl lips, but I'm really enjoying eyes and nails so I'll let you all know soon!

My Interpretation: Tanya Burr's Glamourous Kim Kardashian Tutorial
(not edited, I like to shoot photos of myself on my camera's "food mode")
One of my favourite favourite favourite looks right now is this light golden smoked out Kim Kardashian inspired look, from pixi2woo or Tanya Burr, she's amazing!
I used similar products to Tanya because she was using the
Urban Decay Book of Shadows IV (which is currently on sale on the Urban Decay website for only $29 from the usual $64, absolute bargain!!!) but a lot of my facial makeup was different. I used:
Eyes:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Urban Decay "Midnight Cowgirl" on the lid
- Urban Decay "Lost" in the crease
- Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette (I used the darkest brown) for my brows
- M.A.C Fluidline for my eyeliner
- The Face Shop Eyelash Curler
- L'Oreal Double Extension Mascara and L'Oreal Volume Million Mascara (the new formula)
Face:
- M.A.C Pro Longwear Concealer in NW15
- Make Up Forever HD Foundation in #120 Sand
- The Body Shop All in One Face Base in #3
- The Body Shop Bronzing Powder in #3 (I think, its the matte one!) as bronzer and contour
- M.A.C Mineralize Blush in Dainty
- M.A.C Extra Dimension Skinfinish (as a highlight) in Superb
Lips:
- M.A.C Tendertone in Hot 'n' Saucy

Shadow Lust: L'Oreal La Couleur Infallible Eyeshadow

Although I'm not exactly game enough to test this considering you shouldn't wear makeup while you sleep!
How pretty is it? I'm in love!
L'Oreal Couleur Infallible eyeshadows retail for $14 and up at most L'Oreal stockists such as Priceline and other pharmacies.

Beauty Lust: Pearl!
Wednesday, 13 June 2012, Wednesday, June 13, 2012

Sunday, 3 June 2012, Sunday, June 03, 2012
