Makeup Lust: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector
Hi my little sweethearts! Today I've got a real treat of a product to talk to you guys about and it's gonna become a staple in my makeup collection (long as I can keep finding it! It's discontinued and really hard to find) but regardless I've gotta gush about it; the
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector.
Packaged in a sleek dual-ended tube are an amazing highlighter and concealer combo in the shade Light Medium, and the ends are packaged (as well as tinted) to match their products. I got this for $10 at a discounted price from Nova Pharmacy (my friend bought it for me, love it!) and if you're lucky you should be able to still spot it in some pharmacies and on eBay as well, onto the products!

I'm very picky about my concealers as I have a lot of requirements my dream concealer has to meet. The areas of my skin that require concealing tend to be drier than the rest of my face, or oilier due to a growing blemish meaning my concealer will melt off; so it needs to be long lasting. I love a medium to full coverage concealer to cover up any scars and since I don't have a huge issue with dark circles I like my concealer to be one that gives good radiance (I often use a separate concealer for brightening but now I don't have to!). It sounds impossible but I've most definitely found it! This concealer lends great medium to full coverage opacity in an extremely lightweight concealer that requires quick blending (due to its fast setting and flattering matte finish) and has a flattering neutral/yellow undertone that suits my skin perfectly. I find this concealer so well pigmented and blendable that I can afford to use it on drier areas without fear of flaking and underneath the eyes without settling into any lines. As this is an anti ageing based line in the Maybelline family the concealer is designed to mask "adult imperfections" such as discolouration and scars caused by the sun and broken capillaries.

The highlighter end is just as stellar and I'm absolutely loving it! It has a thinner texture (with a brush tip instead of the doe-foot sponge of the concealer, which applies the thicker texture of the concealer better) that has more slip, meaning you have more blending time. It has sheer to light coverage with a matte/satin finish rather than a shimmer or pearl finish typical of most highlighters such as Benefit High Beam. I find this highlighter is subtle enough to really brighten up underneath my eye area above my foundation and concealer as well as down the bridge of my nose, cupids bow, below my bottom lip, cheekbones and my browbones. Because it has a pinker/peachier tone rather than a yellow tone such as the concealer it can neutralise your skin tone more and bring more brightness to the affected area (think about the Bobbi Brown correctors and it works a similar but better effect!).

I really do adore this product and have been using it every day since I got it, hopefully I can use it in a tutorial for you guys soon as I can't wait to try it out and gush about it even more!

Lip Lust: Maybelline Color Sensational Créme Lip Gloss in Born With It
Maybe I was
born with it? Sorry I can't help it! It's just
Maybelline, and an amazing product at that, everyone knows that the
Color Sensation Lipsticks are some of the
best of the
best at the drugstore, and their lip glosses follow suit. Allow me to rave to you about the
Maybelline Color Sensation Créme Lip Gloss in
Born With It. I don't actually own many, or any lip glosses at all (how embarrassing...) because I've never really liked them, I always found they left a film on my lips that would turn white; yucky! Or my boyfriend would object to them, they do add a strange layer for kisses after all, but this is a great first one for me.

I found it a little disappointing that the Color Sensation Créme Lip Glosses didn't have any writing or details on the packaging aside from the tiny (almost illegible) sticker on the bottom indicating the shade. It means that the packaging isn't distinguishable from any other regular lip gloss and considering it truly is a stellar product that's a bit of a shame to me, I guess you could say the packaging is an understatement. Regardless Color Sensation Créme Lip Glosses are packaged in a sturdy plastic tube with a twist up doe foot sponge applicator that applies cleanly without pulling out excess product from the tube, receding the chance of wasting the product. I also found that the applicator never deposits too much product, rather just right or a little bit under.
The texture has almost zero stickiness and doesn't grab onto my hair when it's windy (definitely a plus!) and feels luxuriously smooth and soft. It leaves my lips hydrated and moisturised which is another key point for me, anything that dries out my lips even remotely is a no-go for me. Color Sensation Créme Lip Glosses, depending on which shade you choose impart fairly strong colour across the whole range, though some such as the reds are more pigmented than others. I'd say I had to reapply after about every 2 to 3 hours to maintain maximum glossy effect and that's perfectly fine by me, especially considering Maybelline don't advertise this as a long wear gloss.

Born With It is listed in the pink range of Color Sensation Créme Lip Glosses, it's not as strong pink as the other pinks in the range (Pink Perfection, Hooked on Pink and Raspberry Sorbet) and I'd call it the nude pink of the range. I was tossing up between Pink Perfection and Born With It but I've really been wanting a great pink nude that doesn't make my lips look dead, looks great as a stand alone colour (which is does because it's got great colour deposit) and that I can layer over a nude lipstick; hence my choice was Born With It. It gives amazing gloss and shine without looking overdone or heavy, rather it highlights the lips in a beautiful and youthful way, making your complexion look that touch healthier.
Like most products in Australia it doesn't come supremely cheap (at $14.99 from Coles and almost all drugstore and pharmacy outlets, as well as supermarkets) but it's a cheap option when you compare prices as opposed to most products over here, and this would show up as about average. I highly recommend them especially for young girls who are just starting to wear and experiment with makeup.

Makeup Lust: Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer
Okay, let me start of by saying I am
obsessed with this product! What is it you may ask? Well you should have read the title! Kidding, it's the
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer! A drugstore dupe of the famed
YSL Touche Éclat and the
Lancôme Teint Miracle Instant Retouch Pen Lit-From-Within Perfector at a fraction of the price and equal the quality.

I've been raving for weeks now about the
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer but I honestly like this even more. My skin has been so dull cause of this chilly winter weather so anything with the words illuminating, highlighting, dewy finish are standing out to me in a positive way (which is usually the opposite for my typically combination/oily skin!) so I figured this would be a great option. Supposedly
Dream Lumi Touch gives a light coverage but depending on how you apply I feel it can easily spread to medium, it blends so effortlessly; like silk and the colour is a perfect match for my skin. The concept of the packaging is the same as
Touche Éclat with the click pen and synthetic brush (which are notoriously difficult to clean, so I don't suggests using this concealer on other people or lending it to your friends due to bacteria!), at first it took me a moment to figure out which way to twist the bottom of the pen since I was worried I'd break it, but it's simple and easy, the first time you use it though you have to twist it for a while till the product comes up and after that you're set!
This is incredible for highlighting and brightening underneath the eyes and on any dark spots on the face, I feel that it's moisturising enough to use to cover blemishes but you don't want them to be illuminated! My trick is that I apply this concealer on blemishes and dark spots before applying foundation because I love the coverage, finish and lasting power, and after foundation I use it to highlight under my eyes, on the bridge of my nose, on my cupids bow and around my eyebrows and forehead to add dimension (these are the areas I want to be illuminated and stand out, whilst underneath my foundation I want blemishes to be covered.). Dream Lumi Touch has a thin and again super blendable texture that doesn't cake or dry out, nor accentuate wrinkles or fine lines.
I went to Myer after buying Dream Lumi Touch to take a look at Touche Éclat at the YSL counter and one of the things I noticed is that the shades of Touche Éclat lean much more on the pink/peach side, where I find that Dream Lumi Touch leans more on the neutral to yellow undertone side, which is much better for me because those are the undertones of my skin personally, meaning I would prefer it over YSL in that sense.
I bought Dream Lumi Touch for about $10.99 at Priceline (it was discounted from a few dollars more which is great) and I highly, highly recommend it!

Beauty Lust: Pearl!
I don't always pay attention to the main trends in the beauty industry, I mean I know them, but I have my little favourites regardless of what's in season, and right now my favourite is Pearl products, especially nails and shadows!
Credit:
From left to right: Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in "Sheer Pearl", Essie "Kisses and Bises, O.P.I "I Juggle... Men", M.A.C "Frayed to Order" (my favourite!)
and Chanel "Pearl Drop".
I love the look of nails like a mother of pearl, my favourite that I own has definitely been
O.P.I "Otherwise Engaged" and when I was cleaning out my nail polish collection yesterday I found this little nail polish from some random little brand called
Blush Amour and the colour is number 21, it's a white pearl with slight pink shimmers, I have a photo on my instagram (@bigfatsquishycheeks)! I think that pearl nails are understated and simple, but so so
so delicate and feminine! Plus it makes my nails look so shiny and healthy, and adds dimension.
I've also been really loving pearl eyeshadow, I love a strong metallic with smooth application and one sweep dimension and that's what a great pearl eyeshadow should be, that's my favourite part about a pearl is they're never one solid colour, there's always hints of pink and they're always shiny. A lot of brands sell eyeshadows or have at least one eyeshadow series that involves pearls, including:
Some of the best available pearl shades include:
M.A.C Woodwinked
M.A.C All That Glitters
NYX Loose Pearl Eyeshadow in Pearl
Maybelline Eye Studio Color Pearls Marbleized Eyeshadow in Sinful Sinnamon
Maybelline also have a line of Pearl lipsticks in their
Color Sensation Lipstick line, the (you guessed it!)
Color Sensational Pearl Lipsticks. I'm not
quite ready yet for pearl lips, but I'm really enjoying eyes and nails so I'll let you all know soon!
