It is proper sweltering outside today! Don't know how I'm going to handle summer when I begin to melt at 31 degrees, goodness me. Onwards my beautiful sunshine babies, I have a fantastic product I am dying to tell you all about, never thought I would have any luck finding it over here but alas, discount beauty stalls strike again with great success. A Revlon classic, the Revlon Moon Drops Lipstick in (such a beautiful name;) Persian Melon.

Moon Drops is a cult classic at Revlon and when it was released it was a huge deal in the beauty industry. When it was released in the 60's it was marketed as the first "wet" lipstick, that moisturised and conditioned the lips unlike any other lip colour out there!

There are a few major corporations that are the owners of all our favourite brands, so it's not just a coincedence when two different brands will release a similar concept of product at the same time and this is an evident case in Max Factor and Covergirl, who are both owned by pharmaceutical giant Procter and Gamble. Whilst I was in the UK I noticed an abundance of Max Factor at all of the major high street stores, but no Covergirl. Max Factor is only available to the USA online, I believe they used to have it a few years ago but it didn't sell well. Obviously it would feel like a loss to both parties to not be able to easily purchase both brands, but there's no real loss at all, let me give you an example!

Though a novel concept, Smoky ShadowBlast is far better in theory than practice, and are not only notorious for the stick ends breaking, but also for a formula with a weak colour payoff and pigmentation. All of the shades are very frosty and crease and fade far too quickly to be worth any amount of money.

I can't be exactly sure but I do believe these products have the same formula considering the reviews for Smokey Eye Effect Shadow aren't exactly glowing either, in fact they're the opposite. The colours again have little to no pigmentation when applied onto the eye, are extremely troublesome to blend, are patchy, frosty and leave an uneven film of colour that makes blending step 2 to step 1 a nightmare. Though the colours in Smokey Eye Effect Shadow are more sophisticated than the young audience that Covergirl targets, but the product is just as bad.

I've got quite the affinity for lip products and that has been so for a while now, ever since I bought 9 Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks in the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Cube while I was on the plane to Singapore (it's only available on in-flight shopping) for $65, considering a single Super Lustrous lipstick retails for $21.95 in Australia, having 9 for that price was totally unmissable. Onwards! I first heard of the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse (otherwise known as the L'Oreal Color Riche Caresse Lipsticks in the US) on FleurDeForce and when I was in Boots (they were £7.99 each) in the UK they still hadn't released the Revlon Lip Butters so I figured this was like L'Oreal's answer, not quite!

The packaging is quite sturdy see through plastic which is great so you can clearly see the product inside. The formula isn't actually like the Revlon Lip Butters at all, Lip Butters are more like a lipstick, very creamy and opaque, but Rouge Caresse is like a lightweight sturdy gel stick, with a thin but highly pigmented and long lasting formula. Aphrodite Scarlet is actually more of a shimmery pink colour rather than a red, and has beautiful colour payoff while being light and moisturising at the same time. It's not like any other colour or product I own or have seen before!

Though I'm not fully aware of their availability internationally, I believe they're available at most drugstores in the US and UK. I highly recommend them :)

So ! For my very first post on this blog of mine, hopefully the first of many :) I have a lipstick that I have been absolutely loving lately, and wearing it daily, M.A.C's Lovelorn. I bought this around 6 or 7 months ago for $36 at Myer, not exactly cheap. I was actually searching for a pink that would match a dress I bought for my birthday, I wanted Milan Mode first and then Lickable, but they sold out of both, so the salesman recommended Lovelorn instead. 

It's a lustre finish, meaning its the sheerest of the main M.A.C lipstick finishes, but very glossy. I wouldn't call Lovelorn one of the most sheer and I actually find it fairly opaque, especially for my lips which naturally have a pigmented colour. The website describes it as an "emotive blue pink" (not so sure about the emotive part, but it's fairly true!), I actually find it really difficult to find a nice pink lipstick since the majority of them make my teeth look very yellow ! (i.e. Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake!). I hadn't really touched Lovelorn in a while and it just sat in my collection because I assumed I just didn't have a pink that suited me, but I noticed it the other day before school and it's my absolute favourite right now.
