Hi my little munchkins! Long time no see :) Winter has been hitting me and my skin hard, as well as the rest of Melbourne! So unfortunately my Neutrogena moisturiser just hasn't been strong enough for me, the cold is making my dermatitis act up too so the dryness around my nose, forehead and even my eyebrows is getting hardcore, so I figured it's time to pull out the big guns.

I first bought this at Selfridges when I was (you guessed it..) in the UK and it wasn't cheap, I believe it was between £30 and £39, I can't remember exactly, and what's funny is at first I hated it. My skin in the UK was awful, I had so much acne, I think it may have been from the flight drying my skin out, but also more for the fact that I barely drank water when I was in London because I think it tastes disgusting, it's very hard and slimy water, but it worked great when I was washing my hair. I didn't bring my Neutrogena moisturiser because my brother wanted to keep it at home for his skin, so I took my Laneige Water Sleeping Pack with me instead. Clearly by the amount of acne I had my skin was not pleased, so I sought an alternative. I know that the majority of Clinique products are unfragranced but I could not stand the scent of this, it's not a chemical smell or anything but it's just a bit unpleasant. 

I stopped using this moisturiser for about 2 months because I figured it was making my acne worse from when I was on holiday, but my skin needs drastic help. Super Rescue is an incredible blend of water, silicone, thickeners, shea butter (ultra moisturising!), fatty acids (more moisture!), glycerin, antioxidants (preventing free radical damage), cell-communication ingredients and skin identical ingredients, all packaged in a opaque tube protecting these state of the art ingredients from contamination or sunlight, perfect!

Super Rescue is a fairly thick beige coloured cream that blends into the skin smoothly and effortlessly, and honestly I use this for daytime, nighttime and as a base for my makeup since it's much better than any of my silicone primers for my dry skin right now! It's great for dry and dry combination skin (they also make a very dry variant and a combination oily to oily skin variant) but this one is a bit too emollient for areas where you have a lot of acne, which would encourage more acne.

Super Rescue keeps my skin hydrated, plump and soft, it sinks into the skin quickly and doesn't leave any shiny or oily residue. It's a great product if you're willing to splurge on your skin and give it moisturiser that has one of the best state of the art formulas representing how far skincare has come.

Now that winter's really kicking in my skin is starting to suffer, I used to have combination skin but right now it's definitely changed to dry. One of my favourite staples in winter and summer for moisturisers is a simple, clean, classic and effective product that's earned a place in my heart; Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for Sensitive Skin. 

I have combination to (when I'm lucky!) normal skin. I have to be quite calculated and careful about what products I use on my skin, what multivitamins I take (and even the dosage) and the food I eat (as we all should be), if I make one slip up my skin will break out for the next week, and it can be extremely frustrating. It's not too often that I do get pimples, but you can tell when I've had them because my skin also scars very easily. But I am usually pimple free for the majority of the time :)

I've been using the same cleanser for over a year (which I will definitely talk about in the future), and my skincare routine doesn't change too much, because it is extremely effective, thanks to Paula's Choice and Beautypedia, my holy grail of cosmetic and skincare reviews! When I do break out it's almost alwaaaays on my chin, I don't get too many pimples but I find they're very stubborn, so it's necessary for me to use a no-butts-about-it effective treatment. I'm currently using Galderma's Benzac AC 5% Benzoyl Peroxide cream, and I'm definitely pleased!

We all know very well the effectiveness of benzoyl peroxide, and you can read more about it here. The strengths that Galderma carry as far as I know are 2.5% and 5%, I haven't seen 10% in Australia but I know of products in the US that carry it (Clerasil DailyClear Vanishing Acne Treatment Cream). Though it's not the most fun, vibrant, or exciting of skincare products, the packaging is very medicinal and not particularly flash, the product is extremely effective. I believe I bought it from Priceline for about $10, bargain in my opinion! Especially considering the size of the tube (50ml) and how much you actually need for a single pimple. I don't recommend using Benzac AC 5% as a treatment for whole areas of your face where acne pops up as prevention (unless acne is very abundant for you) because it is verrrrry strong, you should really only apply it once or twice a day (depending on the severity of your acne) because it can be very drying.

I absolutely do recommend Benzac AC for anyone who suffers from stubborn acne, and if your acne is quite mild then I definitely recommend the 2.5% variation, overall a great product that if used wisely can really help your skin!
