During my little spree at The Face Shop the other day I also picked up some good products, rather than that dodgy hair mask! Sheet masks are easy, convenient and effective, they make me feel like I'm at a day spa/a ghost, my only problem is that they're too big for my face, it looks a little scary!
The first one I bought I've used before and it's one of my favourites, the Essential Hyaluronic Acid Mask Sheet:
The Face Shop describes this mask as a "super moist mask sheet that contains concentrated Hyaluronic acids" Hyaluronic acid should be an essential ingredient in your skincare routine especially in terms of anti-aging, it's a skin tissue component that's used as a skin identical ingredient, preventing moisture loss and boosting moisture content (Source). I love using this mask at the end of a day where I've had makeup on for a really long time and my skin needs a boost, I actually bought two of these cause I love them a lot, and they're very affordable too! I think they were around $3, my next purchase, also $3 was the Essential Pearl Mask Sheet
Described as a "mask sheet that contains pearl extracts, sinks into skin smoothly and lightly", not the best english but it is Korean website so you've gotta bear with them! I've used this mask sheet before once or twice and I really like this one too, it's very brightening and my skin feels so radiant after using it, the Pearl mask, the Hyaluronic Acid mask and the Collagen mask are all part of the essential mask sheet collection.
The next three masks are roughly $4 each, bargainnnnn! And they're all from the Real Nature collection, each containing a 1000mg concentration of their chosen ingredient.
The first one I bought which is my absolute favourite is the Real Nature Mask Sheet Aloe, and I just finished using it now! It contains (you guessed it) 1000mg of soothing aloe vera, that "calms down the sensitive skin and provides moisture" it's made my skin feel so soothed, soft, supple and hydrated! I've got acne on my chin at the moment that's been dry and in pain all day, and after using this mask it's really calmed down and doesn't hurt at all, plus it's not dry! I would definitely repurchase this mask

The next mask from the Real Nature collection is the "Real Nature Mask Sheet Rice" which I've also used already. The Face Shop claims that this is a "mask sheet that has rice extract that keeps skin spot-free and bright", it also claims to soften and sooth rough, dry skin. I didn't mind this mask, but I didn't really feel any special benefits that stood out to me, my skin's condition didn't improve drastically, and the texture of my skin looked a little odd after I took the mask off, maybe my skin was having a bad day.
The final mask that I bought was actually one that my mum chose for herself is the "Real Nature Sheet Mask Pomegranate", and according to The Face Shop this is a "mask sheet that has pomegranate extract which is rich in vitamin B1&2, as well as mineral(s?). Gives elasticity and glossy look" I'll definitely let you guys know how this goes, since I've never heard of pomegranate being used as a skincare product, we'll see!
All of The Face Shop stores stock sheet masks, the ranges available may vary but I've found these at the majority of locations, I'd definitely recommend them to anyone looking to test out sheet masks for the first time, they're pretty fun!

The WORST Hair Treatment I have ever used!Sunday, 3 June 2012, Sunday, June 03, 2012 |

Today while I was helping my mum shop for a dress for a wedding, we had a look in one of my favourite favourite stores, The Face Shop.
So we picked up actually quite a few things, I'll show a haul later! But looking in the hair section I saw a very interesting product..
Trust me, I laughed when I first saw it too. It's called The Face Shop Jewel Therapy Self Steam Hair Pack, supposedly containing concentrations of five different jewels, and it "provides the recovery for damaged hair & intense nutritious hair treatment". And it warns on the front of the packaging that it gets very hot, first of all it's just a gimmick, and I didn't feel any source of heat on my head. I think even when I first saw it I had a feeling that it was gonna be pretty dodgy, but for $9 it couldn't be that bad, right?
The left half of the packaging contains the shower cap ("containing essence"), and the right top part is the essence, and the lower part is the treatment. It instructs you to firmly push the treatment section up into the essence section, so you ran rip off the top part and put it on your head as a mixture. Well. I don't really know what to say. The essence is very, very tacky and sticky, when I put it on towel-dried hair it felt like it was literally drying up, but I just tried to trust it would have 'jewel like shine' when I washed it out. Pushing the treatment section upwards doesn't mix it at all with the essence, so you have to apply both separately, the treatment feels more like a regular hair repair treatment, thick, plentiful and creamy.
I left it on for 15 minutes just like the instruction said, when my hair dried it appeared normal, but running my fingers through my hair... it would get trapped at my roots, it felt so dry, powdery and just awful, after about my 5th pump of Moroccanoil not having any effect I washed the whole thing out and put my trusty L'Oreal EverPure treatment on instead. Hopefully my hair will recover by the morning!
I do love The Face Shop but this one was a real miss for me, thank goodness it's only a one use product!
The Face Shop Jewel Therapy Self Steam Hair Pack is available at any Face Shop store and retails for $9, just don't buy it.
